What Is This?
Career Compass is an AI career counselor that asks you thoughtful questions across 10 life themes — covering how you think, what excites you, your communication style, your relationship with technology, and more. After enough questions (depending on mode), it generates a comprehensive report recommending your ideal career direction, with reasoning, runner-up roles, and a personal Success Formula.
How to Use
Open Career Compass from the Catalyst menu
Click the Catalyst badge, then select 'Career Compass'. Or go directly to /catalyst/career-compass.
Choose your mode
Pick Explorer (if you're unsure about your career direction) or Focused (if you know your domain but want specific role recommendations).
Answer honestly and thoughtfully
The AI will ask you questions — some multiple choice, some open-ended. Answer honestly. There are no right or wrong answers.
Review your milestones (Explorer mode)
At certain points during an Explorer session, the AI will share a domain recommendation based on your answers so far. Accept it to continue in that direction, or reject it to explore other paths.
Get your Career Compass Report
After enough questions, the AI generates your report. It includes a recommended role, detailed reasoning, your personal Success Formula, runner-up roles, and a Day in the Life snapshot.

What to Expect
- Explorer mode: ~26 questions, around 30–35 minutes
- Focused mode: ~20 questions, around 25 minutes
- Session auto-saves — you won't lose progress if you accidentally close the tab

Good to Know
- Career Compass provides guidance based on your responses — not a definitive answer about your future. Many career paths could be right for you.
- Your career direction may evolve over time. It's perfectly okay to revisit and redo the session as your goals change.
Tips & Common Mistakes
Block out uninterrupted time. Career Compass works best when you're relaxed and thinking clearly — not rushing between tasks.
Answer honestly, not aspirationally. If you hate public speaking, say so. The AI can only help you if it knows the real you.
For open-ended questions, write more than one sentence. Short answers give the AI less to work with, which leads to weaker recommendations.
Download the PDF and revisit it after a few days. Career clarity often comes from re-reading your own answers, not just the AI's recommendation.
